High Risk Home Insurance Illinois
Car wrecks, is there a time frame for forgiveness?
a friend of mine (no, seriously!!!! honest) had a wreck in 2001, and came w/in 300 of totalling her car, (a 2000), they paid for it, then as she was coming home w/the car from the repair shop (no kidding) she had a freak accident that really totalled the car.
She has been keeping her car in her parents name, and going under their insurance because she’s always believed that insurance would be too high.
I tell her that there has to be a forgiveness period for accidents, and that after 5 years+ those accidents shouldn’t matter. She’s in Illinois. I can’t phrase the question right to search for it on anything cause I’m not sure what that would be called.
Would this place her in a high risk group? Even on an old cruddy car and liability?
Serious replies only please
Yeah, but is it 3 years, or is it 5 years?
Now the answers are conflicting and confusing.
It used to be after 3 years the accident would no longer haunt you, now it’s becoming 5 years. If she’s clean (no accidents/violations for the last 5 years) she should have no problem getting insurance herself. it will be more than she’s paying under mom & dad’s policy since there will most likely be no multi-car discount.
